Well, I guess I have a while to go still but figured I should at least start trying to clear out some of what I have acquired since getting here August 2011.  I will be officially out of Japan next July (2013), so some items I will need until then and those will be listed but not yet available.

Make sure to check the 'Description - Price - AVAILABILITY' under each picture to make sure.

When I got to Japan, my apartment literally had nothing but the tatami mats and shoji doors. Needless to say, I have since furnished everything myself (new and previously recycled items) and am now just trying to get back some of my original start-up costs.

With that being said, trust me in that I know how much stuff costs in Japan, whether if the item is new/used, from a Japanese recycle store, or from another Sayonara sale.....I`ve basically become an expert at household purchases in Japan!  Comparing prices, everything on this blog is MUCH MUCH cheaper than new items, about 50% cheaper than items from Japanese recycle shops, and around the same if not a little cheaper than items in other sayonara sales.

Using the Blog - pretty straight-forward

When Searching For Items:  Items are listed on the page heading most closely associated. Items in the 'Electronics' page are electronics that do not otherwise fall under a different category.

Under each picture, find a brief Description, asking Price, and Availability.

Description(s) are short and sweet. All items are clean and in working order. If you want more details about an item, please ask. Bigger items have 1 month warranty =)

Price(s) are listed in Japanese Yen. If more than one item is purchased, prices are negotiable of course. If you are in/from U.S. and want to pay in USD, bank transfers or money orders are OK (exchange rate @ current JPY per 1 USD rate).

Availability will either be Current (currently available), July (definitely NOT available until right before I leave), or Negotiable (I would like to keep item until I leave but possibly willing to part beforehand).

IMPORTANT: Concerning items not available until July; to "reserve" the item, a deposit of at least 50% the item's worth needs to be given (furikomi is best). Once the deposit is received the item is effectively yours, but I will still need to use it until the end of July. If, for whatever reason, the item is damaged/lost before July, you will receive the a full refund for deposit amount. However, if you change your mind and do not choose to pay the remaining balance, the deposit will be forfeited.

After a deposit is paid, items will be marked as RESERVED/SOLD* meaning the item is already claimed just as long as the buyer pays the remaining cost (50%). If you/another buyer is interested in the item, please send me an email and I will put your name on a backup list (in case the person who paid the deposit does not complete the transaction).

Paying for Items: Items being picked up at my house or Kaibara station can be paid for in cash. If being delivered to Shin-Sanda or another train station, a deposit of 25% is required beforehand. If I am delivering by car, deposit of 50% is required beforehand. The remaining amount can be paid in cash upon delivery.

How to do furikomi (bank transfer): If you have a Japanese bank account, then a furikomi 振込み is probably the easiest and cheapest way to send money. It is simple, but just ask a clerk at your bank for assistance if you don't know how. Send the money to:

Bank Name: みなと銀行 (Minato Ginkou)
Branch Name: 柏原支店 (Kaibara Shiten)
Account Type: ふつうよきん (Futsuuyokin)
Account Number: 3484645

After entering the information above, my name should also appear as フレンチチャールズタイラーウイり. If my name appears then you are OK to send. If it is not my name, then you possibly entered a wrong account number. Furikomi costs depend on your bank but are usually only 100-200¥.

How to send cash by mail: Using the post office (JP Post), you can also send cash in the mail. It is certified and safe and a receipt is given once you send it. At the post office, ask for genkin kakitome (現金書留) and you just need to write my address at top and yours below and insert the cash amount. However, it is more expensive (~500¥) than a furikomi and takes 2 days, so maybe this should be a backup option.

Getting the Items:  Pick up at Kaibara station or, if you are driving, my house is easiest. If Tamba is too far out the way (LoL), pick up at Shin-Sanda station is available (W/TH/F/Sat). Also, smaller transportable items can be picked up at any JR station on the Takarazuka line (pre-arranged & Sat or Sun only). If purchasing many items or specified items (noted in description of item), I do drive down through Osaka and Kobe once in a while, so delivery could be arranged for the price of detour-mileage gas reimbursement.  For orders more than 30,000¥ delivery is on me (FREE) ;)
